A delegation of priests led by Vicar General of Kon Tum Diocese Joseph Đỗ Hiệu extended on January 5 visits to the provincial Party Committee, the provincial People’s Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Gia Lai province, on the occasion of Lunar New Year (Tet) 2023.

Welcoming the Catholic delegation included Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee cum Chairman of the provincial Party Committee's Commission for Internal Affairs Rah Lan Chung and Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Thị Thanh Lịch.
During the visits, while extending Tet greetings to officials of provincial authorities, Priest Joseph Đỗ Hiệu extended congratulations to socio-economic achievements bringing improvements in material and spiritual life of the people, including local Catholics in the province. The priest also took the chance to thank to provincial authorities for their attention and supports extended to Catholic practices in Gia Lai over the past years.

Speaking with the guests, Deputy Secretary Rah Lan Chung and Vice Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Thanh Lịch informed the priest delegation outstanding results of socio-economic development in Gia Lai in 2022, which also attributed to practical contributions made by Catholics in the province over the past year. The local officials also stated that the provincial government of Gia Lai always pays attention to creating favorable conditions for practices of religions in general and Catholicism in particular, and expressed hope that Kon Tum Diocese and Catholic people in the province would continue promoting fine traditions and joining hand with authorities and ethnic people of Gia Lai province for attaining further socio-economic successes in the coming time.
