Presbyterian Church of Vietnam convenes 2nd General Assembly

On May 15, 2014, the Presbyterian Church of Vietnam held its second congress (2014 - 2018) in Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of 200 Protestants dignitaries and believers of the Church from 22 localities throughout the country. 

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Bùi Thanh Hà, Vice – Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, representatives from central agencies and departments of Ho Chi Minh city, Committees for Religious Affairs (department of Home Affairs) of localities having Presbyterian followers.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Bùi Thanh Hà stressed the Party and State are always appreciative of the contributions of Protestant dignitaries and believers in general, and the Presbyterian Church in particularly to the great national unity bloc. For the past years, dignitaries and believers of the Church have abided by laws and joined the people nationwide in social activities such as: poverty reduction program, building of the cultural family, the gratitude repaying movement, charities. He also affirmed that the Party and State always respect and guarantee the right to freedom of belief and religion of its citizens. Mr. Hà hoped that the second - term Management Council  will continue to steer the Church towards implementing the motto “living the Gospel, serving the Fatherland, the Nation and abiding by laws”, making  further contributions in building prosperous and civilized country.

During two days, the Congress passed contents: report of the first term activities, election of the second - term Management Council and approval of the plan for second term (2014 – 2018). The second - term Management Council consists of 15 members led by pastor Điểu Bôi as its chairman.
