According to the festival’s organizing committee, this year festival will take place from the 8th to 10th of the third lunar month at Hùng Kings Temple historical relic site located in the province’s Viet Tri provincial city with a traditional format.

Three other provinces participating in organizing this year festival with Phu Tho province are Can Tho, Nghe An and Son La.

The ceremonial activities includes the death anniversary of the Great Father Lạc Long Quân and the incense offering ritual to Great Mother Âu Cơ on the 6th of the third lunar month, the incense offering ritual to Hùng Kings on the 10th of the third lunar month, the flower offering ritual at the bas-relief "President Hồ Chí Minh talks with officers and soldiers of the Pioneering Army Troop", etc.

The celebrating activities will include a street folk culture festival, fireworks performance, cultural camping and exhibition in the province for introducing specialties of Phu Tho province, display of archeological artifacts of the birth and development of the state of Van Lang and belief of worshiping Hùng Kings, contest of making banh chung and banh day, Xoan singing performances, etc.
