Preparations for exhibition on Vietnam Buddhism in world heritage

To preparing for an exhibition “Vietnamese Buddhism in World Documentary Heritage” on the occasion of the United Nations (UN) Day of Vesak 2019, a delegation led by Director of the Vietnam National Archives Đặng Thanh Tùng participated a meeting held by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Central Cultural Committee on February 26.

Attending the meeting taking place at Yen Phu pagoda in Hanoi city included Venerable Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Central Cultural Committee Thích Thọ Lạc, Director of the Buddhist Affairs Department under the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Bùi Hữu Dược, representatives from VBS and concerning agencies.

During the meeting, Director Đặng Thanh Thùng briefed on the main contents of the exhibition outline, and stated that it will closely coordinate with the VBS’s central cultural committee for successfully organizing the exhibition.

After the meeting, the delegation has visited Tam Chuc pagoda in Ha Nam province where the exhibition will take place.

The United Nations (UN) Day of Vesak 2019 themed “Buddhist Approach to Global Leadership and Shared Responsibilities for Sustainable Societies” is scheduled to take place in Tam Chuc pagoda in Ha Nam province’s Kim Bang district from May 12-14.

This will be the third time the UN’s commemoration of Vesak held in Vietnam. Previously, it took place in Hanoi in 2008 and Ninh Binh in 2014.
