Phu Tho province: Local religious organizations sign agreement on protection environment, climate change adaptation

Phu Tho provincial authorities and representatives of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and Committee for Catholic Solidarity in the province signed a cooperation agreement on protection environment and climate change adaptation for the 2016-2020 period at a ceremony held on May 25.
The signing ceremony was chaired by Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Trần Phù Tiêu.
The cooperation agreement aimed to strengthen coordination between the provincial VFF Committee, Department of Natural Resources and Environment with religious organizations in Phu Tho province, enhance roles, responsibilities and practical contributions of religious dignitaries and followers on environmental protection and adaptation to climate change for sustainable development.
Main contents of the cooperation program include to raise awareness of religious communities on environmental protection and adaptation to climate change; to disseminate state laws and action programs of the VFF Central Committee on environmental protection, climate change adaptation;to replicate typical models in the implementation of environmental protection, climate change adaptation; to guide and encourage people to follow lifestyles friendly to the environment.
Concluding the conference, Chairman Trần Phù Tiêu called on local authorities work closely together for ensuring effective implementation of the coordination program.
