People under umbrellas offer incense to Hung Kings on the opening day of Hung Kings Festival

Despite the rainy weather, thousands of people from localities on April 17 came to Hung Kings Temple Relic Site located in Viet Tri City of the northern province of Phu Tho for offering incense to the kings on the opening day of Hung Kings Festival.

The Hung Kings are commemorated each year on the 10th day of the third lunar month, which falls on April 21 this year, as an occasion for the nation to express gratitude to the national founding fathers.

Among the traditional rites, incense and flower offering ceremonies are scheduled to take place on April 17 and 21 (the 6th and 10th days of the third lunar month).

 Despite rainy weather, visitors come with umbrellas for offering incense and expressing respect to Hung Kings

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the management board of Hung Kings Temple Relic Site will hold only a few festive activities of traditional art performances and folk games, focusing only on solemn worshipping rituals for expressing gratitude to the founders of the nation.

 Bringing offerings to Hung Kings

For the Hung Kings Temple Festival to take place safely and solemnly this year, the management board of the Hung Kings Temple relic site in Viet Tri city has join the provincial Health Department in disinfecting the site before and during the festival and in conducting communications campaigns to raise public awareness on pandemic prevention.

 Activities during the festival’s opening day included incense-offering to Forefather Lac Long Quan and Foremother Au Co at temples dedicated to them in the relic site
