The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) held in Sa Pa District on July 24 a grand ceremony for peace prayers and casting of Bodhisattva statue at Bao An Pagoda in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai.
Attending the ceremony included former Vice President Nguyễn Thị Doan, representatives of the Northwest Steering Committee and the Government Committee for Religious Affairs
Thousands of Buddhists in Lao Cai and neighboring provinces attended the ceremony
Casting of a statue of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
The 12m- high and 18–tonne statue will be made of pure copper
Bao An Pagoda is one of two pagodas built on Fansipan, the highest mountain in Vietnam with the hight of 3,143m and dubbed as the roof of Indochina.
