Palm Sunday by Cathedral Parish of My Tho

04/03/2021

A solemn Palm Sunday took place on March 28 in the Cathedral Church of My Tho Diocese located in My Tho City of the southern province of Tien Giang.

The event was presided by Bishop of My Tho Peter Nguyễn Văn Khảm, who is the General Secretary of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam, and attended by parishioners of the Cathedral Parish and other parishes of My Tho.

Palm Sunday is an important feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter. The feast commemorates Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, an event mentioned in each of the four canonical Gospels. Palm Sunday marks the first day of Holy Week, taking place from March 28 to April 3 this year. In most liturgical churches, Palm Sunday is celebrated by the blessing and distribution of palm branches (or the branches of other native trees).
