Phuoc Son pagoda located in Luong Hoa Lac commune and Lien Hoa Buddhist temple located in Xuan Dong commune of Tien Giang province’s Cho Gao district held on February 15 separate ceremonies for releasing live fish in the natural environment and praying for peace.

As reported, Phuoc Son pagoda released 500 kilograms of fish into Bao Dinh river and Lien Hoa Buddhist temple brought 1,500 kilograms of fish into Tien river.
Early, on February 8, the two Buddhist places released a total of 2,000 kilograms of fish into rivers.

According to Senior Venerable Thích Thiện Nguyện, Member of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Committee cum Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Board in Cho Gao district, the fish release is a Buddhist tradition to make merit and pray for peace often implemented by Buddhist places in the first days of the year.
