On May 1 2014, at the Our Lady of Lavang Pilgrimage Centre, Archbishop Francis Xavier Lê Văn Hồng, Archdiocese of Hue presided over the opening ceremony for the Month of Flowers 2014 to honor the Virgin Mary – Mother of Catholic Church
The month of May known as the month of flowers has been recognized by the Catholic Church for honoring to the Virgin Mary. In this month, Catholic believers will organize an honoring procession and offer flowers to the Virgin Mary.
Attending the ceremony were priests inside and outside of the diocese, many pilgrims from dioceses such as: Hanoi, Thai Binh, Quang Binh, Vinh, Da Nang, and especially the Bass Congregation of Cam Chau parish of Thai Binh diocese, the Children Congregation of La Vang parish.
In his speech, Archbishop Lê Văn Hồng pointed out the meaning of the year 2014 – the Family in the Evangelization and stressed that the family is the home of love and the first education school for everyone so within the family people should love and help one another, parents should be good examples for children to follow. At the end of the opening ceremony, he also announced that the 30th Lady of La Vang Pilgrimage will be from August 13 – 15, 2014 invited people to join as well as support the building and completion of the Our Lady of Lavang Pilgrimage Centre.
