As approved by relevant authorities, the UN Vesak Day 2014 will be hosted by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and held at Bai Dinh pagoda, Ninh Binh Province from May 8-10, 2014 with the main theme "Contribution of Buddhism towards Achieving the United Nations Millennium Development Goals"
According to the Organizing Committee of the UN Vesak Day 2014, the opening and closing ceremonies will be broadcast live by Vietnam Television on VTV1 and VTV4 channels, in which the opening ceremony will be from 8h30 to 11h00 on May 8, 2014 while the closing ceremony will take place from 15h00 to 16h30 on May 10, 2014 at the main hall of Bai Dinh pagoda. High-ranking officials at the opening and closing ceremonies are expected to include leaders of the State, the National Assembly, the Government and the Central Committee of Fatherland of Vietnam, and high-ranking leaders from several countries./.
