Nghe An: provincial Buddhist Sangha celebrates Vesak and President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday

Nghe An provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Committee held a Buddhist ceremony “Lotus scent in Nghe An” at Dai Tue pagoda, Nam Dan district on May 17.

The event was held in collaboration with the Central VBS’s Cultural Affairs Committee for celebrating the 125th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth as well as the Buddha’s birthday festival 2015 (2559B.E).

Attending the ceremony were Most Venerable Thích Thanh Đàm, Member of the Discernment Council, Vice Chairmen of the VBS Executive Council Thích Thanh Nhiễu and Thích Thiện Pháp, members of the Cultural Affairs Committee, monks, nuns and thousands of Buddhist followers inside and outside the locality.

Local guests at the event included Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Lê Xuân Đại, Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs and local authorities’ representatives.

On this occasion, a special painting of President Ho Chi Minh composed of thousands of pink and white lotuses was also displayed at Dai Tue pagoda.

At the ceremony, Dai Tue pagoda also presented a charity house, worth VND 200 million to the family of Mr. Ngô Xuân Thung, an agent orange victim in Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An provincial VBS Executive Committee and the Central VBS’s Cultural Affairs Committee presented VND 30 million for the education promotion fund in Nam Anh commune of Nam Dan district.
