The ceremony was presided over by Auxiliary Bishop of Vinh Diocese Peter Nguyễn Văn Viên and attended by local authorities’ representatives, priests and Catholic followers from Chay and neighboring parishes.

Chay parish in the province’s Bo Trach district was established in 1924. The parish consists of three congregations of Chay, Bau Sen and Na. The parish currently has 944 Catholic households with over 4,000 people. The construction of the new church was started in 2014.
