The executive committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s chapter in Ben Tre province held on November 4 a ceremony for formally appointing the new Head of An Phu pagoda located in An Thuan commune of the province’s Thanh Phu district.
Present at the event included Most Venerable Vice Chairman of the provincial VBS executive committee Thích Lệ Linh, representatives from local authorities, and over 200 monks, nuns and lay Buddhists in the locality.
During the ceremony, the executive committee of the VBS chapter in the province handed the appointing decision to Nun Thích nữ Diệu Hậu as new Abbess of An Phu pagoda.
The pagoda was formerly headed by Nun Thích nữ Diệu Hiện. Due to her old age and weakened health, the nun had resigned from the position as the pagoda head.
