The National Assembly Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescents and Children held a conference on August 7 to examine the draft law on belief and religion.
The conference was chaired by Chairman of the National Assembly Committee Đào Trọng Thi and attended by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs cum Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Phạm Dũng, Vice Chairman of the GCRA Bùi Thanh Hà, officials from the National Assembly Committee and members of the draft law’s drafting committee.
At the conference, Chairman Phạm Dũng presented the purpose, underlying principles and the drafting process of the project of law on belief and religion, and on behalf of the drafting committee, Vice Chairman Bùi Thanh Hà briefed contents of the draft law.
During the conference, the participants agreed on the necessity for issuance of a law on belief and religion and stressed that the draft law should be enacted in line with the 2013 Constitution’s spirit on freedom of religion and belief, and ensure the constitutionality and legal consistency and feasibility.
