National Assembly Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescents and Children gathers ideas on draft law on belief, religion

The National Assembly Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescents and Children held a conference in Ho Chi Minh City on July 17 to gather opinions from experts and religious dignitaries on a draft law on belief and religion.
Chairman of the National Assembly Committee Đào Trọng Thi and Vice Chairman Lê Như Tiến co-chaired the conference.
Participants of the conference included Deputy Minister of Home Affairs cum Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Phạm Dũng, Vice Chairman of the GCRA Bùi Thanh Hà, National Assembly deputies and former deputies; researchers, scientists, state officials and representatives from religious organizations (Buddhism, Catholicism, Protestantism, Caodaism, Muslim, ...).
At the conference, Chairman Phạm Dũng briefed about the project of law on belief and religion, and on behalf of the Drafting Committee, Vice Chairman Bùi Thanh Hà presented the purpose, viewpoints and new contents of the draft law.
The participants agreed on the necessity for issuance of a law on belief and religion and stressed that the draft law should be enacted in line with the 2013 Constitution’s spirit on freedom of religion and belief, and ensure the constitutionality and legal consistency and feasibility.
