At these locations, Chairman Y Thanh Hà Niê K'đăm extended his best wishes to the Buddhist dignitaries and the local Khmer community on their traditional festival.

He highly appreciated the contributions made by the religious practitioners and the Khmer people to the national development over the past years.

The NA official expressed his hope that Khmer monks and people will continue promoting solidarity and joining hands with the entire Party, people and army, in realizing socio-economic development goals and especially in fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also called for further efforts to effectively implement the Party and State’s policies on ethnic affairs, including the national target programme on socio-economic development in ethnic minority-inhabited and mountainous areas over the 2021-2030 period, and policies on preserving and promoting cultural identities of the Khmer people.

During the visits, the delegation handed over 100 million VND to Ca Mau provincial authorities to support poor ethnic households throughout the locality. The delegation also presented gifts to the provincial Association for Solidarity of Patriotic Buddhist Monks, and Buddhist monks at Monivongsa and Rach Giong temples.

The Chol Chnam Thmay festival, which is annually observed in mid-April, is one of the most important festivals of the Khmer people in Ca Mau province and in the southern region in particular. This year’s festival is celebrated from April 14 to 16.
