My Tho Diocese inaugurates its pastoral centre

05/17/2017

My Tho Diocese held a solemn ceremony on May 13 to inaugurate its pastoral centre located in Tien Giang province’s My Tho city.

Attending the ceremony included Bishop of My Tho Diocese Peter Nguyễn Văn Khảm, Bishop of Can Tho Diocese Stephane Tri Bửu Thiên, Archbishop non-resident Special Envoy of the Vatican to Vietnam Leopoldo Girelli, local authorities’ representatives, over 140 priests, and about 4000 clergymen, clergywomen and followers in the diocese.

As reported at the event, My Tho Diocese was established in 1964 but without the pastoral centre. In 2014, local authorities approved for the diocese to build the pastoral centre consisting of a 26-room home for retired priests, a learning and teaching building, an office building for the diocesan pastoral boards, a chapel, a canteen, a performing stage and a statue of the Virgin Mary.
