The People’s Committee in Thanh Hoa province’s Quan Son district held on February 28 a ceremony to receive the certificate of recognition of Muong Xia Festival as a national intangible cultural heritage.

The event saw the presence of Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Đầu Thanh Tùng, Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nông Quốc Thành and large numbers of local residents and visitors.
Muong Xia Festival is an important cultural and spiritual feature of Thai ethnic group in Quan Son district and honors great contributions of General Tư Mã Hai Đào who defeated invaders and protected bo the west border of Thanh Hoa province. The festival is annually held on the 9th and the 10th day of the second lunar month.
This year, the festival took place from February 20 to March 1, and featured traditional rituals including worshipping procession and offerings and folk games.
