Senior Venerable Thích Chúc Giác, abbot of Phuc Linh pagoda in Thach Ha district and Buddhists visited and presented one million VND and other necessities including noodles and candies to a quarantine place based in the kindergarten in Thach Dai commune.

Also in Ha Tinh, more than 300 Catholic parishioners and parish priests in Ky Ha commune, Ky Anh district donated 30 million VND in cash and foods to the Covid-19 fighting works.

In An Nhien parish in Thach Ha commune of Ha Tinh provincial city, Mr. Nguyễn Huy Phổ’s family presented 1.5 tons of rice, worth 22.5 million VND, and Mr. Nguyễn Hồng Phong’s family donated 1.1 tons of rice, worth 17.5 million VND, to the nCov combating fund.

In Dong Thap province, for suporting preventing efforts against the nCovi pandemic in the locality, 70 managment boards of Hoa Hoa Buddhism have raised 380 million VND including 14.5 tons of rice, 30,000 facemasks and 14 million VND in cash; the representative committee of Hoa Hao Buddhism in the province donated two tons of rice and two tons of fabric to make facemask, worth 50 million VND; and the Hoa Hao Buddhist charity group set up for providing free meals to patients in Dong Thap Hospital supported four tons of rice, worth 40 million VND.

In addition to practical contributions, local religious organizations have suspended religious gatherings of large participants in order to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic.

In particular, Khmer pagodas in Southern provinces have decided to cancel religious and cultural activities of large gatherings for celebrating the Chol Chnam Thmay Festival this year. The Chol Chnam Thmay is one of important cultural festival of Khmer people and take place from April 13 to 16 this year.
