A ceremony for inaugurating the monument and temple dedicated to General Ly Thuong Kiet was held on April 1 in Bac Ninh province’s Yen Phong district.
Attending the event included Senior Lieutenant-General Politburo Member and Minister of Public Security Tô Lâm, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyễn Nhân Chiến, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Văn Phong, Sculptor Nguyễn Phú Cường, the author of the statue, representatives from local authorities and large numbers of locals and visitors.
The Ly Thuong Kiet relic project with constructing 20 items in Yen Phong district’s Tam Giang commune was approved by the Bac Ninh Provincial People’s Committee in late 2015. Being built on a total area of 153 hectares with the total investment of over VND 254 billion, the project includes a main temple, a park, an agricultural tourism area, a resort and a Ly Thuong Kiet monument. So far, the temple, the monument and a number of auxiliary items have been completed.

Speaking at the inaugurating ceremony, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Văn Phong said that the project of Bac Ninh province is considered as a symbol of respect and gratitude to the predecessor, national hero Ly Thuong Kiet. The vice chairman also asked Yen Phong district authorities and project investors to speed up the construction progress as well as closely collaborate with the provincial department of culture, sports and tourism to well implement the management, preservation and promotion of the relic’s values, contributing to the traditional education for future generations.

On this occasion, the ceremony’s distinguished guests planted a memorial tree in the area of Ly Thuong Kiet temple.
