The "Peaceful Parish, Cultural Family" model launched in Nga Dien commune of Thanh Hoa province’s Nga Son district has achieved positive results, contributing to promote public safety, social order and socio-economic development in the locality.
The pastoral council of parishes, priests and local residents have joint together with local authorities to build criteria of the peaceful parish and cultural family model. The eight-criteria - model has been communicated to eight out of eight residential areas, nine out of nine parishes, all officials and residents in the commune. Eight residential areas, nine parishes and 100% Catholic households have signed commitments to well implement eight criteria as well as promote public safety and social order in residential areas.
After 8 years of implementation, the management board of the model has focused on propagating purposes, meanings and contents of the model with eight criteria to lay Catholics and local residents through many forms including the loudspeakers system, meetings of the villagers, masses of parishes, and meetings of the pastoral council of parishes and sub-parishes.
Nga Dien commune currently has 20 Catholic followers appointed as heads and deputy heads of social security units in residential areas. Due to the well implementation of the advocacy work, 100% of households in the commune have signed a commitment to actively participate in preventing, detecting and denouncing crimes and helping wrongdoers in residential areas. Through the model, locals in Nga Dien commune have provided useful information for the local police to handle security issues and violation cases.
Chairman of the People’s Committee in the commune Phạm Văn Tân affirmed that the peaceful parish and cultural family model in Nga Dien commune has been promoted effectively. Through this model, Catholic followers and locals have well observed the Party’s and the State’s guidelines and policies and local regulations for the past years.
