Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a meeting to review preparations for 2014 UN Day of Vesak

On April 16, 2014, Deputy Minister for Culture, Sports and Tourism Vương Duy Biên chaired a meeting with representatives from the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), Ninh Binh department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and departments under the Ministry including the National Administration of Tourism, Performing Arts Department, and Cinematography Department.
The 2014 UN Day of Vesak will be held at Bai Dinh pagoda, Ninh Binh province
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Vương Duy Biên urged the relevant departments under the Ministry to urgently review the preparations of tasks for 2014 UN Day of Vesak assigned to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism by the Joint Working Group (art performance, films, art exhibitions, Buddhist photos gallery, Buddhist Cultural fair in Ninh Binh province…)
Thorough preparation of tasks assigned will contribute to ensure successful hosting of the upcoming UN Vesak Day and introduction of about Vietnam’s, traditional culture and Buddhism to delegates overseas, help promoting spiritual tourism and social – economic development of the country.
