Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism continued to review the preparation process for the UN Day of Vesak 2014

On April 23, 2014, Deputy Minister for Culture, Sports and Tourism Vương Duy Biên chaired a meeting for the upcoming UN Day of Vesak 2014 with representatives from the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), Ninh Binh department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and departments under the Ministry including the National Administration of Tourism, Performing Arts Department, and Cinematography Department.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister Vương Duy Biên listened to reports reviewed by representatives of concerned Ministries, Agencies and localities on the on-going preparation process for helping the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha to host the UN Day of Vesak 2014 in Ninh Binh province.
Deputy Minister Vương Duy Biên emphasized that the UN Day of Vesak 2014 will be a significant international spiritual and cultural event in 2014 for promoting values of peace and humanity, an opportunity to introduce Vietnam’s culture and its people to friends overseas and demonstrate the Party and State’s due attention to the issue of religious freedom. Mr. Vương Duy Biên expressed his hope that the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha will closely coordinate with concerned ministries, agencies and localities for quickly completing the preparation plan of hosting the upcoming UN Day of Vesak.
