Minister of Home Affair Lê Vĩnh Tân paid on December 23 a visit to the office of Bac Ninh diocese, ahead of Christmas 2020.
The Home Affairs Minister accompanied by Chairwoman of Bac Ninh provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Hương Giang and Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Nguyễn Ánh Chức was welcomed by Bishop Cosme Hoàng Văn Đạt of Bac Ninh diocese.
During the visit, while extending merry Christmas to the Bishop, Catholic dignitaries and parishioners of Bac Ninh dioceses, Minister of Home Affairs Lê Vĩnh Tân informed that despite largely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam has completed its socio-economic growth targets, thanks to efforts of the whole people including the Catholic community.
The Minister also spoke highly of practical contributions of Bac Ninh diocese in encouraging its members to take part in local social movements launched by local authorities. He called on the diocese Bishop and Catholic dignitaries and parishioners of the diocese to uphold fine traditions, contributing to build a prosperous country of Vietnam.
For his part, Bishop Cosme Hoàng Văn Dạt took the change to thank the Minister and local authorities for their due attention extended to Catholic practices in the diocese, and inform that the diocese has contributed nearly 7 billion VND to the social charities in 2020.
He affirmed that he would continue to encouraging priests and Catholics to stay united and join hands with local authorities and people for the socio –economic development in the locality.
