Local Hoa Hao Buddhist executive board in Tien Giang province celebrates the sect’s 77th anniversary

The Executive Board of Hòa Hảo Buddhism in Tan Phong commune, Tien Giang province celebrated the sect’s 77th founding anniversary (May 18, 1939 – May 18, 2016 according to lunar calendar) at a solemn ceremony held on June 22.
Attending the ceremony were representatives of local authorities and other religious organizations, and Hoa Hao Buddhist followers inside and outside the commune.
During the ceremony, participating delegates heard the congratulating letter of the Central Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee President and learnt about historical development and results of charitable activities of Hoa Hoa Buddhism in the past 76 years.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the commune Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Trần Chí Tâm urged followers to promote fine traditions of the religion and proactively join social programs for social-economic development in the locality.
On this occasion, the Central Executive Committee of Hoa Hao Buddhism presented certificates of merit to six followers from the commune for their outstanding contributions to development of the church.
