A grand Buddhist requiem took place in Hoa Vien cemetery located in Thanh Hoa commune of the Mekong delta province of Hau Giang on August 29.
The requiem was held by MeKong Joint-stock Company in collaboration with Buddhist dignitaries. According to Director of the company Ngô Phúc Hiện, the purpose of the requiem was to pray for peace and the spiritual uplifting of those buried in the cemetery.
The ceremony featured Buddhist worshipping and offering rituals as well as Buddhist teachings and prayers led by Venerable Thích Phước Tịnh.
According to Director Ngô Phúc Hiện, the cemetery was founded on an area of 13ha in 2008 and currently home to 1,100 graves.

Participating in the Buddhist event, Mr Nguyễn Văn Trọng from Can Tho city said he has joint many Buddhist ceremonies aimed to pray for peace and spiritual uplifting of those passing away, and this event is the largest Buddhist requiem in the region.
