The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Committee in Ninh Binh province held on July 18 a lantern festival for honoring martyrs and praying for peace, ahead of the 72nd Anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27).
The event taking place at Bai Dinh pagoda saw the participation of representatives of the central VBS, 200 monks and nuns, and 1,500 followers attending the summer retreat in the pagoda.
As reported, over 16,000 martyrs in Ninh Binh province have sacrificed their life during the wars for national independence and unification.
