Lanh Giang temple festival 2019 held in Ha Nam

The Lanh Giang temple festival 2019 in Ha Nam province’s Duy Tien district was held from July 2-7.  

The festival this year featured traditional rituals and activities including a water procession, offering and worshipping rituals, as well as folk games such as tug of war, underwater chase, going footbridges, etc.

The festival practically contributed to promote and preserve practices of Mother Goddess worship, including Chau van singing.

The Lanh Giang temple located in Duy Tien district’s Moc Nam commune is dedicated to the worship of three generals under the reign of the 18th Hùng King. The temple also worships Princess Tien Dung who is a daughter of the 18th Hùng King and her husband Chử Đồng Tử.

The temple was classified as a national historical and cultural site by the culture, sports and tourism ministry in 1996. The traditional festival of the temple was recognized as the national intangible cultural heritage in 2016.
