A ceremony to officially announce the establishment of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Committee of Lai Chau province was held at the Cultural Centre in Lai Chau city on March 27.
Attending the ceremony were Most Venerable Chairman of the VBS Executive Council Thích Thiện Nhơn; Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Thích Thiện Pháp, Vice Chairmen of the VBS Executive Council; monks, nuns and followers from the provinces: Tuyen Quang, Cao Bang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Quang Ninh and Lai Chau.
Distinguished guests at the event included Deputy Minister of Home Affairs cum Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Phạm Dũng and Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Lê Bá Trình.

Speaking at the ceremony, GCRA Chairman Phạm Dũng said that the establishment of the provincial VBS Executive Committee would consolidate the Buddhist organization system in the whole country and contribute to promote social integration traditions of Buddhism for building a peaceful and prosperous country of Vietnam.
