Kontum province: Construction work for Đăk Jâk church started

A stone-laying ceremony for the construction of the Đăk Jâk Parish Church under Kontum Diocese was held on June 6.

The ceremony was presided over by Bishop of the Diocese Aloisio Nguyễn Hùng Vị and attended by Great Holy Cross Knight Lê Đức Thịnh, nearly 100 priests and about 10,000 Catholic clergymen, clergywomen and followers from localities.

Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyễn Văn Hùng, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Đào Xuân Quý and Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Phạm Văn Long were amongst local authorities’ representatives at the event.

During the ceremony, Chairman Đào Xuân Quý extended congratulatory greetings to the diocese and expressed hope that Kontum Diocese would further promote social charitable activities, contributing to the socio-economic development in the province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Bishop Aloisio Nguyễn Hùng Vị thanked local authorities for creating favorable conditions to Đăk Jâk Parish and Kontum Diocese. He also affirmed that a new Catholic or any new religious establishment built would only bring positive impacts to the locality.
