Kien Giang provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Committee held a conference to review Buddhist affairs 2014 and approve working plans for 2015 on Dec. 25.
The conference took place in Phat Quang pagoda, Rach Gia city and attended by Most Venerable Thích Tấn Đạt, Standing Member of the Central VBS Executive Council cum Vice Chairman of the Central Propagation Committee, the provincial VBS Executive Committee and Buddhist monks, nuns and followers in the locality, and representatives from local authorities.
It’s reported that Buddhist charitable activities in the province in 2014 brought remarkable results with a contributing value of total 62 billion VND, through such activities as poverty reduction, building of loving houses, construction of local bridges, donation of wheelchairs, supports to funds for health-care of mothers and children, education promotion fund.
As approved at the conference, the key tasks for Buddhist affairs in the locality in 2015 would include provision of guidance to pagodas, monasteries in order to ensure Buddhist practices in accordance with Buddhist laws, and encouraging active involvement by Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the patriotic movement and social charitable activities in the locality...
