Khmer Buddhist Temple inaugurated in Ho Chi Minh City

Pothiwong Pagoda located in Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Binh district formally inaugurated its new main worshipping building at a ceremony held on February 21. 

Attending the event included Most Venerable Hữu Hinh and Most Venerable Thạch On - members of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Discerning Council, Most Venerable Secretary of the VBS’s Executive Council Danh Lung, representatives of municipal concerning departments and Tan Binh district authorities, and large numbers of Khmer Buddhist clergies and followers.

As reported, Pothiwong Pagoda, originally known as Onteskosey temple, was established in 1960 by Most Venerable Thạch Âm and it’s the second Khmer Pagoda in Ho Chi Minh city. The reconstruction of the pagoda was started in 2001 on an area of 470m2 and completed at the construction cost of over VND 18 billion
