In 2014, the Social Charity Board of the provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in collaboration with the Executive Committees of communes, districts, cities, and pagodas organized charitable activities with a total cost of over 7 billion VND.
This was reported by Most Venerable Thích Quảng Thiện, Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee cum Head of the Social Charity Board of Khanh Hoa provincial VBS.
In major festivals such as the Lunar New Year, Vesak 2014, Buddhist Parents Day… the Social Charity Board paid charitable visits to the provincial Blind Association, Phuong Son Nursing Home, the Tuberculosis Hospital, Dien Phuoc Mental Hospital. The Charity Board also conducted health checks, distributed free medicines to poor patients and presented 2400 gift boxes to poor pupils in remote communes of Khanh Son, Khanh Vinh.
The Social Charity Board also coordinated with doctors to conduct eye surgeries for 171 poor people, congenital heart surgeries for poor children, and provide annual scholarships to poor students in the province.
In total, Khanh Hoa provincial VBS donated 24,764 gift boxes in 2014 with an estimated value of over 7 billion VND.
