SeRayMeangKolSaKor Pagoda located in An Giang province’s Chau Thanh District held on October 15 a Kathina Robe offering ceremony on occasion of the closing of the Buddhist summer retreat 2017.
Robes offering is an annual event in the Theravada Buddhism in Vietnam right after the summer retreat season. Monks during the four months of rainy season spend more time in temples and attend to lay devotees by teaching the Dharma and helping them to practice meditation. At the end of the season, in order to show their appreciation and to give thanks, lay devotees would choose one day to gather at temples to offer robes to the monks.
The solemn ceremony annually held in SeRayMeangKolsakor Temple becomes a fine cultural tradition in An Giang, apart from preserving historical Buddhist values and teachings.
