A Kathina robe-offering ceremony was solemnly held on October 17 in Ghositaram pagoda located Bac Lieu province’s Vinh Loi district.
The ceremony saw the presence of Senior Venerable Member of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Council cum Vice Chairman of the provincial VBS Executive Committee Tăng Sa Vong, Senior Venerable Vice Chairman of the provincial society for solidarity of patriotic Buddhist monks Kim Ngọc, and large numbers of Khmer Theravada monks and followers.
Performing Theravada Buddhist rite
During the event, Senior Venerable Tăng Sa Vong took the chance to speak about the meaning of Kathina robe-offering ceremony. Robe offering is an annual event of Theravada Buddhism in Vietnam to pray for peace and prosperity and respectfully offer robes and essentials to monks right after the three months of the summer retreat.
On the occasion, Buddhist families have received certificates of merit for their practical contributions in support monks in Buddhist practices
