Cham people’s Kate festival in Ninh Thuan province has been formally recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage at the opening ceremony of the annual festival held at Po Klong Girai tower on October 19.
Attending the ceremony included Religious Chief President of the Dignitaries Council of the Brahmin community Hán Đô, members of the council and a large number of Cham people in the province.

In the temple and towers, Kate Festival took place with rituals in turn as tower opening ceremony, statue bathing ceremony, costume wearing ceremony, offering and dance to celebrate the festival. After the rituals, contests of weaving fabric, making pottery, carrying water jar, pottery exhibition, Kate worship, Cham folk art performances, folk games, etc were held in Cham villages.
Kate is the largest festival held annually by the Cham community. It is an opportunity for people to strengthen solidarity, raise awareness of conservation and promotion of fine traditions of Cham ethnic community.
