Incense offering commemorates Great Father Lạc Long Quân in Noi Binh Da temple

An incense offering ceremony for commemorating Great Father Lạc Long Quân and opening Binh Da festival was held on April 9.

The ceremony taking place in Noi Binh Da temple relic site located in Binh Minh commune of Ha Noi city’s Thanh Oai district saw the presence of Secretary of Ha Noi municipal Party’s Committee Hoàng Trung Hải, representatives of concerning local authorities, and large numbers of local people and visitors.

After opening rituals, Binh Da festival opened with art performances, folk games and Chinese chess competition, etc. This year festival also organized 22 booths for displaying typical products of Thanh Oai district.

According to legend, Noi Binh Da temple is one of oldest temples in Vietnam and believed to be the place of a reincarnation of Great Father Lạc Long Quân.

The temple has retained a thousand-year-old bas-relief embossing images of Great Father Lạc Long Quân with vassals and generals with a prosperous life under the Hùng Kings era.

The temple was recognized as a national historical – cultural relic site in 1990 and Binh Da festival was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2014. The bas-relief of Lạc Long Quân was recognized as a national treasure in 2016.
