The inauguration of the highest Maitreya Buddha statue in the Northern of Vietnam took place on December 2 in Thien Duc memorial park in Phu Tho province.
The 20-meter-statue was built with reinforced concrete on a pedestal of 300m2 high and designed by sculptor Thụy Lam.
The statue has a tradition presenting the symbol of joy and happiness in Vietnam’s traditional belief.

Before that, sculptor Thụy Lam was known as the author of many statues of Buddha setting the record of Vietnam and Asia including the 33.6-meter Maitreya Buddha statue on That Son mountain in An Giang province which reached the Asian record on March 2, 2013 and the 67-meter statue of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva in Son Tra peninsula of Da Nang city.
