Huong Tich Pagoda festival opens in Ha Tinh

Huong Tich Pagoda located in the Thien Loc Commune, Can Loc District, Ha Tinh Province opened its annual festival on February 22 (6th day of the first lunar month), making beginnings for the provincial tourism year 2017.

The opening ceremony of the event was held by Ha Tinh provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Can Loc district authorities with the visiting of large numbers of Buddhists and pilgrims.

The festival will run until the 3rd  lunar month with many cultural and sport activities including singing and dancing repertoires praising the beauty of the homeland and folk games such as tug of war, cock fighting, etc.

According to statistics, the festival 2016 attracted over 150 thousand local and international visitors, and this year festival has seen 45 thousand visitors  from the 1st to the 6th of the first lunar month.

According to legend, Huong Tich pagoda was built in the thirteenth century. Located on the highest peak of the Hong Linh mountain, Huong Tich-Hong Linh Mountain tourist area has been recognized as the national historical and cultural relic. Up to now, more than VND 300 billion has been invested in rebuilding and upgrading the pagoda. In 2017, the Asian Development Bank will start investing some construction items for the pagoda with total capital of $ 7 million as part of the project for improvement of tourism infrastructure, contributing to comprehensive development of greater Mekong subregion.
