Hue: Bach Ma Zen Monastery receives a statue of Buddhist King Trần Nhân Tông

During Hue Festival 2014, on April 19, the Hue Center for Old Relics Museum held a ceremony for gilding a statue of Buddhist King Trần Nhân Tông and respectfully bringing the statue to Hue Bach Ma Zen Monastery. The ceremony was organized solemnly at “Bat Trang space within the old city’ within the interior of Hue citadel.  

Attending the ceremony were representatives of local authorities and the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, including the Mr. Ngô Hòa, Vice-Chairman of Thua Thien Hue provincial People’s Committee and Most Venerable Thích Đức Phương, Deputy Patriarch of the VBS Discernment Council.

This statue was the third one cast and presented by Mr. Trần Độ - a well-known craftsman. The first statue was presented to the Trần Nhân Tông Institute of Harvard University in the USA, while the second one was brought to Truong Sa pagoda.

The ceremony for gilding a statue of Buddhist King Trần Nhân Tông and respectfully bringing it to Bach Ma Zen Monastery was a significant event, not only for Hue Festival 2014 but also Buddhism’s Vesak festival 2558./.
