Hue archdiocese marks 25th years of Carmel monastery’s reopening

President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of VN cum Archbishop of the Hue Archdiocese Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh on March 19 solemnly offered a mass for kicking off the holy year marking 25 years of the Hue Carmel monastery’s reopening.  

During the mass, Archbishop Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh extended congratulations to all Catholic nuns in the Carmel monastery and the the Order of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and the Catholic monastery announced feast days in the holy year as well as the closing ceremony scheduled for March 19, 2022.

Hue Carmel monastery under the Order of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (OCD) has been established in Thua Thien Hue province for over 100 years. After a period of closure, religious practices of the Catholic monastery have restarted since 1996.
