Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng paid on January 26 a visit to Tu Hieu pagoda located in Hue City to pay tribute to Zen Monk Thích Nhất Hạnh.

The deputy minister’s visit was joint by Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Hoài Bắc and Chairman of Thua Thien - Hue provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Nguyễn Văn lập.

During the visit, the delegation offered incense and presented a calligraphic painting lauding Zen Master Thích Nhất Hạnh’s remarkable achievements and expressing gratitude for his contributions to the introduction and development of Vietnamese Buddhism and culture in the world, as well as expressed sympathy to the Plum Village, the Buddhist school and relatives of Zen Monk Thích Nhất Hạnh.

Zen Monk Thích Nhất Hạnh passed away at Tu Hieu pagoda in his birthplace Hue city in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue early January 22, at the age of 95.
