Holy See’s Representative & Vietnam Bishops’ Conference pay last respect to President Trần Đại Quang

Archbishop Marek Zalewski, Non-residential Special Envoy of the Holy See to Vietnam, and Cardinal Nguyễn Văn Nhơn, Archbishop of Hanoi led a delegation of the Vatican and the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam, respectively, to pay homage to President Trần Đại Quang.
Joining the delegation included Bishop of Phat Diem Joseph Nguyễn Năng, Vice President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam.
In the funeral Archbishop Marek Zalewski, Cardinal Nguyễn Văn Nhơn and Bishop Joseph Nguyễn Năng expressed condolences at the passing of the Vietnam State President.
Archbishop Marek Zalewski wrote:
“On behalf of the Holy See (Vatican) and on my own behalf, I express my deep and sincere condolences for the death of the President of Vietnam.
May the Lord give him eternal rest and consolation to his family and the people of Vietnam”.
The State funeral for the President began at 7am on September 26 at the National Funeral Hall, No.5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi. The memorial service took place at 7:30am on September 27 at the National Funeral Hall. The burial ceremony will take place from 3:30pm on the same day in the President's native land in Quang Thien commune, Kim Son district, Ninh Binh province.
