Hoa Hao Buddhists in An Giang proactively engage in Covid-19 fight

Followers and establishments of Hoa Hao Buddhism in the southern province of An Giang have been making practical contributions for the Covid-19 prevention and control.
According to Vice Chairman of the Hoa Hao Buddhism’s Central Executive Committee Lê Ngọc Lợi, the Hoa Hao Buddhist Central Executive Committee based in An Giang has donated 500 million VND to the Covid-19 vaccine fund through the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the province, contributed over 360 million VND to the Covid-19 prevention and control work in the locality.
The Buddhist committee has also successfully mobilized resources of essential supplies and cash valued at over 8.5 billion VND in total for supporting the task force working at border posts and checkpoints, and spent 3 billion VND on charitable programs for disadvantaged people in other provinces hard hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.

At the grassroots level, An Hoa Tu - the founding temple of Hoa Hao Buddhism has maintained a charity kitchen that has been offering from 150 to 400 free meals each day to people living in the district quarantine center.

Most of local Hoa Hao executive boards have also actively joint local authorities in organizing “zero VND stall” and “zero VND transportation” for providing essential supplies to people in need in localities.

According to statistics, the Hoa Hao Buddhist Church has contributed over 50 billion VND to the Covid-19 prevention and control work since the fourth wave of Covid-19 pandemic hit Vietnam on April 15./.
