Hoa Hao Buddhist followers in An Giang spend 48 billion VND on social charities

A delegation from An Giang provincial Committee for Religious Affairs led by Chairman Nguyễn Phú extended on June 24 a visit to the Representative Committee of Hoa Hao Buddhim in the province based in Buu Hoa Temple in Chau Phu district, on occasion of the 82nd founding anniversary of Hoa Hao Buddhism.

An Giang is home to over 670,000 Hoa Hao Buddhists with 136 executive bodies at all levels and 14 worshipping places. Over the past years, Hoa Hoa Buddhists in the province have well conducted religious practices according to the religious Charter and State laws, and proactively participated in social charitable activities, including supports for the Covid-19 prevention work.

Hoa Hao Buddhists have made practical contributions worth over 48 billion VND through social charities in the first six months of 2021.

Speaking at the visiting reception, while extending greetings and congratulations to deacons and followers of Hoa Hao Buddhism in An Giang province on occasion of the 82nd founding anniversary of the Buddhist sect, Chairman Nguyễn Phú hailed practical contributions through social and charitable activities by followers of Hoa Hao Buddhism over the past years.

This year, due to the complicated of Covid-19 pandemic, the Chairman urged the Hoa Hao Buddhist representative committee to well encourage worshipping places of the Hoa Hoa Buddhist Church in the province to cancel celebrations of the 82nd founding anniversary with large gatherings and observe preventive measures against the Covid-19 pandemic of local authorities.
