The Representative Committee of the Hoa Hao Buddhist Church in Tien Giang province based at An Hoa Pagoda celebrated the Church’s 78th founding anniversary at a solemn ceremony held on June 12.
The event was presided over by Member of the Hoa Hao Buddhist Church’s Executive Committee cum Chairman of the Church’s Representative Committee in Tien Giang province Võ Văn Thượng, and attended by members of the representative committee, and a large number of followers in the locality.
Distinguished guests at the ceremony included Vice Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Trần Văn Khuê, and representatives of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Department of Home Affairs.
Speaking at the ceremony, while extending congratulatory greetings to the committee, Vice Chairman Trần Văn Khuê praised the Hoa Hao Buddhist followers for their practical contributions to socio-economic development in the province over the past years. He also urged the representative committee and Hoa Hao Buddhists to practically implement the Church’s motto “For Dharma, for Nation” by actively engaging in charitable activities and social movements launched by local authorities.
Tien Giang province is home to about 2000 Hoa Hao Buddhist followers residing in districts of Cai Be, Cai Lay, Cho Gao and Tan Phuoc with 15 commune-level executive boards.
