Hoa Hao Buddhism in An Giang holds year-end conference

The representative committee of Hoa Hao Buddhism in the southern province of An Giang held on January 22 a conference for reviewing its performance 2020 and outlining its plan of activities for 2021.  

The event, taking place in Buu Hoa Temple in the Cai Dau Town of the province’s Chau Phu district, saw the presence of Chairman of Hoa Hao Buddhism’s Central Executive Committee Nguyễn Tấn Đạt, Vice Chairman of the central Hoa Hao Buddhist committee cum Head of the central Hoa Hao Buddhist committee’s Social Charity Board Lê Ngọc Lợi, and members of the central and provincial executive bodies of Hoa Hao Buddhism.

Guests at the year-end conference included Vice Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs of An Giang Lê Quang Tấn and representatives from the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front and authorities of Chau Phu district and Cai Dau town.

As reported, last year, followers of Hoa Hao Buddhism in An Giang spent over VND 110 billion on social and charitable programs, including the construction of charitable houses and local bridges, operation of charity kitchens and presentation of supports to the disadvantages in localities. In particular, in 2020, the Hoa Hao representative committee and management boards presented over 2.9 billion VND to the Covid-19 prevention work and contributed over 9.4 billion VND for sending relief supplies to people severely affected by floods in Vietnam Central.   

During the event, Chairman of Hoa Hao Buddhism’s Central Executive Committee Nguyễn Tấn Đạt presented the decision on the approved list of ten members elected to the Hoa Hao Buddhist representative committee in An Giang for the 2019-2024 term, with Rev. Nguyễn Văn Tát selected as the committee chairman.

Hoa Hao Buddhism in An Giang province currently has 136 management boards established in communes, wards and towns in the province.
