Ho Chi Minh city: Meeting with religious dignitaries held to gather comments on environmental protection, climate change adaptation

On September 20th, the Standing Committee of the central Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) in coordination with religious organizations held a meeting to gather comments about the conference on religion’s role in protecting environment and responding to climate change is expected to be held in Hue city in November this year.
The meeting was chaired by Vice President of the VFF Lê Bá Trình and attended by representatives from religious organizations.
At the meeting, the organizing board informed about contents of the conference in Hue city, including the current pollution situation, environmental degradation and climate change in the globe and Vietnam; guidelines and laws on environmental protection, climate change adaptation; roles of religions in environmental protection, climate change adaptation; coordinating program of action between the Central VFF’s Standing Committee, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and religions on environmental protection and climate change adaptation…
The meeting drew valuable and practical opinions and suggestions on environmental protection and climate change adaption from religious representatives for the upcoming conference on the issues.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President Lê Bá Trình expressed his hope that the November conference would guide religious followers to make practical contributions the environmental protection and reduce climate change. Based on the contents of the conference, each religion will develop plans of action to protect the environment and better respond to climate change.
