HCMC tightens budget spent on organization of festivals

The Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) People’s Committee has instructed related agencies and departments to minimize expenses for festivals and avoid ostentation and waste.

The HCMC People’s Committee also urged departments, agencies to shorten the time for festivals.

According to this instruction the management and use of banknotes, especially at monuments, belief-related places and festivals have to be more civilized and more economical and reasonable. Exchanges of bank notes for profit at historical sites, pagodas and festivals will be eliminated 

The restoration and upgrade of monuments, belief and religion-related sites must be done in accordance with law.

Heads of agencies were also asked to direct officials not to attend festivals in the name of their agencies, unless they were assigned to do so.

The city also required the Department of Information and Communications to ensure the live broadcasts are not abused for mobilizing fundings for festivals.
